Denver ABSN Admissions Process

Step 1: Apply to CSP Global

To be considered for admission to the BSN program, students must first be accepted to the university. Apply to CSP Global.

Step 2: Complete Nursing Program Admission Requirements

Before beginning the BSN program, students must complete several requirements, including prerequisite coursework, the TEAS exam, and other Nursing program criteria. The academic advising team at CSP Global is available to help create a personalized plan to keep you on track toward meeting these requirements.

CSP Global Nursing offers a Direct Admission Pathway for incoming first-year and transfer students waiting to pursue the ABSN Program. Students who qualify (upon acceptance to the university) will have a seat within the program upon completion of all Nursing program requirements.

Eligibility

  • Incoming First-Year Students admitted to CSP Global with a 3.0 or higher cumulative high school GPA will automatically be considered for CSP Global’s Nursing Direct Admission upon admission to the University.
  • Incoming Transfer Students admitted to CSP Global with a cumulative college GPA AND Science GPA of 3.0 or higher will be eligible for direct admission.
  • All students must meet the following criteria to maintain their eligibility:
    • Maintain a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA and science GPA.
    • Complete all Nursing program requirements (prerequisite coursework, TEAS exam, latency and retake policies are met, etc.).
    • Submit the Nursing Acknowledgment Form and attend the mandatory Nursing orientation (both items are sent upon acceptance to the program).

Direct Admissions Benefits:

  • Automatically accepted to CSP Global’s College of Nursing: Students with a cumulative high school GPA or cumulative college GPA of a 3.0 or higher will have a prioritized seat in CSP Global’s pre-licensure Nursing Direct Admission.
  • Nursing Application Waived: Direct admission students will be exempt from submitting CSP Global’s nursing program application. Students are classified as having already applied to the Nursing program once declared a direct admission student as long as all program requirements are met at the intended program start term.
  • TEAS Exam Waived: CSP Global waives the TEAS requirement if 3 of 4 Science prerequisites are completed through CSP Global (BIO300, BIO315, BIO316, or CHE105) and minimum science GPA and grades have been met.

The following requirements must be met to apply to the Accelerated BS in Nursing program:

  • Acceptance to Concordia University, St. Paul
  • Submit official transcripts verifying completion of 54 college credits, an associate’s degree or higher non-nursing degree
  • Cumulative GPA and Cumulative Science GPA of 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale. Applicants not meeting the GPA requirement may submit a petition for review.
  • Successful completion all Nursing prerequisite coursework
  • Submit a TEAS score of 65% or greater (TEAS waived if 3 out of 4 science courses are completed through CSP Global)
  • Demonstrate English language proficiency via examination (if needed)
  • Submit the Nursing Acknowledgment Form

ATI TEAS Exam Requirement

CSP Global students applying to the Nursing program must complete the ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) exam and meet the following minimum score requirements:

  • Overall Teas Score – 65%
  • Reading – 70%
  • Mathematics – 64%
  • English and Language Usage – 60%
  • Science – 46%

Please note: TEAS minimum score requirements are established using current evidence and institutional admissions practices and are subject to periodic review and revision. Concordia University, St. Paul reserves the right to modify minimum score requirements at any time based on emerging evidence, program outcomes, accreditation expectations, regulatory requirements, and admissions needs. Applicants are responsible for meeting the requirements in effect at the time of application review.

Exam Timing and Attempt Limit

  • The TEAS exam must be taken within one year (12 months) prior to submitting your Nursing program application.
  • Students may take the TEAS exam no more than two times per year.
  • Students must meet the overall minimum score of 65% and the minimum score required in each section listed above.

Reminder: The TEAS requirement is waived if a student completes three of the four Science prerequisites through CSP Global (e.g., BIO300, BIO315, BIO316, or CHE105) and meets the required minimum science GPA and course grades.

Complete the TEAS Exam Through CSP Global

The TEAS Exam is offered through CSP Global virtually. This is open to anyone to register, including CSP Global pre-nursing and non-CSP Global students. Students can also complete the TEAS exam outside of CSP Global.

Cost of the exam is $120. Applicants will pay upon registration.

Step 3: Apply to the BSN Program

When applying, please ensure you have the following items and have reviewed all program requirements and policies.

  • TEAS Exam Score: The TEAS admission requirement is waived for students who have taken 3 out of the 4 science prerequisite courses at CSP [BIO300, BIO315, BIO316, CHE105] and have earned a science GPA of 3.00 or higher.
  • Unofficial college transcripts: for any in-progress courses or courses taken outside of CSP. You may apply to the Nursing program with courses in progress, as long as they will be completed before the program begins.
  • Clear a criminal background check
  • ABSN Program Policies
  • Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency via examination if (1) English is not their native language, and (2) the applicants have lived in the US fewer than eight years at the time of application. English proficiency may be demonstrated by one or more of the following tests:

Denver ABSN Program FAQ

In the ABSN program, students engage in a variety of learning experiences to master essential nursing skills, including hands-on skills labs at learning sites and clinical experiences that combine simulation and direct patient care. Online courses cover critical topics such as nursing theory, public health policies, and pharmacology, while offering ample support throughout the program.

Program start dates include Fall (September), Spring (January), Summer (May).

We typically recommend that our students allow themselves the opportunity to focus on their BSN education full time.

Clinical learning experiences occur in a variety of healthcare and community-based settings throughout the Denver region.
